On the 2nd of June, the new cellars of Château La Dominique, ordered by Clément Fayat and carried out by Jean Nouvel, were officially opened to the public. After 2 years of works, with its pure lines and dressed with red, the new building is now fully ready.
In the presence of Jean Nouvel, the owners Jean-Claude and Laurent Fayat have opened the new technical and welcoming spaces, covering over 1000 m². The guests were allowed to visit the original vat-room restored, the new vat-room and the wine cellars. At each step, the team of La Dominique explained the assets of this new tool and answered all the questions.
Essential fact of the event, the owner and the architect were present to introduce their challenging project.
The cocktail was served on the panoramic terrace, where the guests could enjoy the exceptional view which Jean Nouvel managed to unveil.
This privilege is not given to the guests of the event only. Everyone can come and visit the Château La Dominique and relax at the Terrasse Rouge, the Table of the Château, which will be opened daily for lunch and dinner during all summer.
Reveiled during the summer exhibition at Saint-James Hotel, the new collection of JOFO “Chapi Chapô” gathers 20 drawings of wine-making architecture, among which Château La Dominique.
In reference to childhood, the character “Chapi Châto”, now famous in Bordeaux, is a smiling and touching tribute to the châteaux which tell stories and hold secrets of know-how, tradition and unexpected modernity.
Jofo, like a talented portraitist, observes, examines and reinterprets the symbols of the Châteaux, marks their character, highlights their curves and proportions, superimposes the volumes, brings to life the landscape and colours their beautiful environment.
After the success of the series “Chapo Bordeaux”, this new art collection settles the estate in the popular imagery, which shapes the landscape of the region of the “Grands vins de Bordeaux” through the heritage of elegant, powerful, discreet and sophisticated buildings… or, magnificently expressed by the biggest names of the contemporary architecture.
It is a pleasure to see La Dominique drawn under the glimmering pencil of Jofo, in the gallery of Saint-James’ Hotel in Bouliac: we share with this fabulous place the talented architecture of Jean Nouvel.
Exhibition from June 11th to October 6th
